It was a gorgeous day! We saw a large number of hot air balloons in the sky as we always do, immediately when we left out home. We live in Ventana Ranch, which is on a mesa, so we have a very nice view of Albuquerque and the Sandia Mountains.
It was less than an hour's drive away, partly because the speed limit here in NM is 75 miles per hour on freeways. We got in pretty early at 9.30am, and so the parking garage was still pretty empty.
First stop of the day? Breakfast, of course! After checking out Yelp, we decided to have it at Tia Sophia's, which was right next to the parking garage. Aiks.. there was a 15 minute wait already. Not too bad. Hubby hung out with Aiden, whilst I took the girls for a walk to look at the stores and art galleries along the street.
I had the Heouvos Rancheros for breakfast with blue corn tortillas. It was quite nice, whilst Hubs who does not like Mexican food, just had eggs and toast. MIL had the pancakes, and I must say they were nice and light, and delicious with the maple syrup provided.
After breakfast we walked towards the Basilica of St. Francis, and stopped by the Plaza and art fair. Hubby was really interested in one artiste who works with metal. I then realized I do not like decorating the house with southwestern details. Since that day, I have been trying to figure out how to decorate our place (more news on that coming).
Hubby had a craving for crepes and we ended up having 2 very expensive ones! Sigh... But it was a very nice day out, and we ate it at the Plaza before packing up to go to the outlet and then home. Since then, we finally ventured to the nearest mall here and found a good crepe place. Thankfully!
Here are some pics from Santa Fe...
We sat out at the plaza to enjoy some very expensive crepes. Never again! There were plenty of other food choices there.
Downtown Santa Fe. The city is celebrating its 400th anniversary later this year.
The Art Institute, I think? Right opposite the Basilica of St. Francis. We went in and the oldest part of the church is gorgeous.. 17XX?
We had breakfast at Tia Sophia's. Good breakfast, and very convenient location. Right next to the parking garage on San Francisco St. We missed having the 'sopapilla's' though because they only serve those for lunch starting at 11am (they are like doughnuts with honey)
