Happy 4th of July!

We had a hot hot Fourth of July this year. To celebrate Independence Day, we stopped by Rock Ledge Ranch in the late morning. We wanted to watch the parade at Palmer Lake but Daddy had to work early that morning for a couple of hours.

So we made it out to Rock Ledge Ranch for their Old-Fashioned 4th of July celebration.

Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site is an educational, non-profit living history farm and museum that depicts life in the Pikes Peak region in four time periods: American Indian area in 1775; 1860’s Galloway Homestead; 1880’s Chambers Home and Ranch; 1907 Edwardian Country Estate. It is only about 25 minutes from our home.

We had fun checking out the historical buildings, doing some activities, riding the hay ride, listening to the brass band and just seeing some participants all dressed up in costumes. It was so hot that we did not stay long. After some ice cold lemonade and buying an apple pie for home, we headed back.
