A couple of weeks ago, I had an anxiety attack over this. I was worried about her being so young and potentially not being able to catch up with the older kids, etc... I felt regret that I sent her to school so young. California has a very late cut-off date, so she started kindergarten when she was 4. Whereas in New Mexico and Colorado, their cut-off date is early October. So she would not have entered kindergarten if we had stayed here then. The kids in her class are at least a couple of months older than her.
But this morning, I was very calm and very proud of her. I know in my heart that she is a smart girl, and as long as I work with her after school and on the weekends, she will be just fine.
I picked her up from school and I asked her how school was.
"It was great! It was so fun"
Yes, yes... it will be a great year for my second grader.
