Especially being a transplant to a new city, having other moms to talk to, and to attend playgroups and events is a lifesaver. Those of you stay-at-home moms, I think, will understand the most because we can get cabin fever here if we stay home all the time. Well, at least I do! Especially during the cold winter months :-)
I have always regretted not joining the Moms' Club in CA sooner. I only joined after I had Chloe and had so much fun, even though we didn't sign up for any playgroups. It was so informative having all these moms in the area available for any questions I had. Of course, recommendations by fellow moms are very important!
I immediately sought out the local club when we moved to Albuquerque, and I have to say I met the most lovely set of moms out there. I loved my Monday playgroups. The kids had fun playing together and everyone 'clicked' with each other. The MOMS club was also much smaller than the one in CA, so most moms would know each other, especially if you attending the events they organized. And we attended a few when we were there...
- Easter egg hunt
- Hiking to the Rio Grande river
- Visit to a downtown popcorn factory/shop
- Halloween Truck-a-Treat
- Park play days, etc
There were also activities we didn't make it, but seemed really fun:
- Visit to the zoo
- Visit to the bouncy indoor play area
- Family hikes around the city
- A tour of Petco
- A tour of a dentist office
- Visit to a water park
- Mom's Night Outs!!!, etc...
I loved having these events organized, so we could attend, if we wanted too :-)
Of course, I have joined the MOMs Club here in CO. And we recently visited the local Fire Station with the group. Both Chloe and Aiden had a good time.
To all you SAHM that have not joined a MOMs Club yet, go out there and be a member! The annual fee is not that high, and you will gain so much from it (as long as you participate).
