Easter weekend 2010

We hope all of you had a pleasant Easter weekend recently.
Our little family certainly did. It was a productive weekend filled with activities and friends. :-)

It started off with me taking the 3 kids to the library for their egg hunt event. I say the library did a good job by having a separate area for the 0-3 kids, and another for the older kids. I had expected a whole lot of people at the event, but it was not too many at all. We got there just as they opened the door. What good timing!

Chloe collected the most eggs, probably because I was there ;-)
Aiden only had 2 that I collected on his behalf. He had no clue what was going on. LOL!
I sent Kathryn off to the bigger kids section and she only came back with 2. Aiks! She's not very good at slowing down and looking for things... This we have noticed.
Anyway, she still found it fun and Chloe was nice enough to share some of her eggs.
They were filled non-candy treats such as stickers, tattoos, erasers, fake gold coins, etc.. Very nice!

After egg hunting, we stayed to do some crafts where the girls colored and made egg holders. The best part of it was that Mommy didn't have to do the cleaning. A big cheer for the library!

Then we went out to lunch at a local fast food place we like, and the kids could play at their play area too. So more fun for them!

The kids came home to rest and I baked some carrot bread (bunny theme since it is Easter!). Alas, I over-baked them in my little toaster oven. Kathryn still thought they were good though.

Dinner was at a restaurant we liked and had a coupon for. Hooray for cost savings!

Then it was off to Walmart. Hubby noticed Aiden has been playing with his sisters dolls and decided his boy needed more manly toys to play with. So Aiden now has 4 new trucks to play with. Hahaha! The cutest part is that Aiden will make a 'vroom vroom' sound when he plays with them. It must be a genetic thing, because no one taught him to do that.

As usual on Easter morning, we dyed our eggs and hid them for Daddy to find. This year, we tie-dyed the eggs with rubber bands, and also had marble effect eggs. We almost did not find one egg that the girls hid. That would have been bad.. Imagine the stinky smell. Oooohh..

Then hubby brought the kids to the park whilst I prepared dinner. I made ham, honey glazed carrots, baked asparagus and mashed potatoes, in addition to some dinner rolls. Simple but yummy :-) Our friends brought 2 racks of ribs to add on to the dinner spread. We had a nice time eating and chatting.

Well, here's wishing you all a great Spring. I'm looking forward to see the beautiful flowers bloom.

Aiden and his new truck.
Notice he is making the 'vroom, vroom' sound. So cute!

SO fun!! I wish I were a kid!! The eggs that your kids dyed are so pretty!! How do you dye the eggs?

Hahaha, I think my brother is the same way with his kids (about playing girly toys). Both my nephews are now in the phase "I don't like girls!!"

Siong Ee - Just regular food coloring. The instructions are on the box. Cool way of teaching them how colors combine to make other colors.
This year, we tied rubber bands on some before dipping them in the dye.
For the marble effect, just drop some olive oil into the dye before dipping the eggs. We dyed the eggs yellow first before dipping them in the oiled dye of other colors.
