I am writing this reflecting on the past year. What have I achieved in 2009?
Certainly a lot had happened, so let's do a recap.
The biggest event of course, was the birth of our son, Aiden. I can't believe he is almost 1 already. And as usual, I am STILL planning his birthday party =)
Aiden brings such joy into our lives. Especially because he is such a happy baby. But don't let that cheeky smile fool you... he has a BIG BIG temper to match his tiny frame.
The other big event was us moving out of California to New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment. It was not a difficult decision at all for me to make. I felt satisfied with my achievements at work and felt that my family needed me more. I did not need work to make me feel whole any more. Hubby had an opportunity to further his career, and Kat needed my support facing elementary school.
And boy, am I glad was got a chance to move to this beautiful state. We have grown to love this place and the people we have met. We are blessed to have found a home that we love, and good people as friends. We enjoyed the slower pace of life, yet satisfied with all of Albuquerque's city offerings. I will miss New Mexico a lot when we leave.
With the move, I officially became a stay-at-home mom, since EY did not have an office here. I am enjoying my days with my kids. My 3 kids keep me occupied!! I went home to Malaysia recently, and some asked me how I do it i.e. raise my kids on my own with no hired help. Well, my answer is.. I just do. There is no ifs or buts. When push comes to shove, you just find ways to get things done. That's how it is, and that's how you handle things. Ah! I do have my crazy days but in general they are few and far between.
2009 was filled with adventures around New Mexico. There is still so many things to do, and I hope we will get to do them one summer. I was planning a trip down to southern New Mexico, but my dear Aiden decided then to start screaming in the car every time we strapped him in. So that quickly killed any thoughts of making that long car trip :-)
This year was also the first time back to Malaysia for Chloe and Aiden. The kids had such a good time being pampered by relatives. It's been 5 years since I last went home, and we had a good but very hectic time back home. The kids and us all got sick (at least once) and so we could not go around meeting everyone like we wanted to. They did OK on the flight, but it was a LONGGGGGG flight. Honestly I might only go back home in another 5 years because of it. Sigh....
The year ended with news of changes to come for 2010. As we all know, the economy is not doing well. And there are plenty of reorganizations around. Hubby's company was not spared and so after deep thoughts and heavy deliberations, hubby starts his new position with his company in a couple of days time. We will be moving in February to Colorado Springs, CO.
So a new year brings us a new adventure. This time to the Rockies!! And lots more snow!
Happy New Year 2019
