Raspberries Picking and the State Fair

It's been a fun end of summer so far. Though school has started, I don't think it's officially Fall yet.

The weather is really nice now. Not too hot, with cool nights. And of course we have the Albuquerque sunshine. I love it that it is not humid. I wonder how it'll be like back in Malaysia. Urgh... probably. Sticky and yucky.

Anyways, with the nice weather, we had great outings to Corrales for some raspberry picking, and to the New Mexico State Fair in downtown Albuquerque. We had so much fun!

It was our first time raspberry picking. And it was a lucky thing we did go the first day of the 2009 U-pick season at Heidi's Organic Raspberry Farm because it was to be the first and last day of the season! It was so fun walking down the aisles on the farm and picking those fresh red juicy raspberries. To pick them, we have to gently twist them and they will come right of the stem. Delicious! We could not stop Chloe from eating them as she was picking :-) And we were fine with her eating because they were organic.

Then another weekend, we visited the New Mexico State Fair here in Albuquerque. Highly recommended! Though bring lots of cash because you can spend a bomb on the rides and also the food. The rides were about $4 per person per ride. Whew!!!! And of course, you got to have some fair food like funnel cakes, roasted corn, fresh cut fries, cotton candy, etc... But it was also fun that the kids got to see the animals, played 'farmers' at the McDonald's Farm, crafts at the kids area, etc. Too bad we missed the dairy barn. I read after that try your hand at milking cows and getting fresh milkshakes. Oh well! Next year :-)

More things to do these coming weekends. I can't wait!
