It was so nice to be in 'pine country' since the scenery is so different from the desert we have here in Albuquerque. And to think it is only 1.5 hours away. Great! The have a camp ground there too. So maybe will try camping there one of these summers :-)
On the way there, we passed by the Jemez Pueblo and also Jemez Springs.
The Pueblo of Jemez is one of 19 native american pueblos in New Mexico. It was expecting it to be very historical and what not, but when I passed it, it seems to be pretty rundown and 'ghetto-ish'. I later spoke to a friend, and he said it was because there was no casino built on their land yet. Oh my goodness! But they do have a visitor center which looks quite nice.
Will have to make a trip to the Pueblo of Acoma, "the Sky City", which people have said is quite nice.
Jemez Spring is a cute little village offering B&Bs and bath houses (hot springs). It looks really nice, and in fact we saw a couple of B&Bs had no vacancies that Saturday!
