Mooncake festival

Well, we had a gathering at the house last weekend, or rather 2 weekends ago since it is already 11.30pm on Sunday night.
It was fun night with food, friends, poker, mooncakes and lanterns. And some Wii :-)

Ryan, Kat and Evelyn

Here is a picture of the kids playing with the lanterns I bought on the way home from work on Friday.
This year I didn't take out the traditional lantern my mom got for Kat because it was way, way packed high up in the garage, and I did not have the energy to go get it. Sorry Mum!

So my daughter loves moon cake. We were at the Chinese supermarket getting stuff for Assam Laksa that I was making for that night's dinner, and so we decided to get some moon cake as well. Well, we ended up buying a cheap box of moon cake. Because I can't eat the moon cakes this year, I did not sample the moon cake before buying. But Kat did. And she insisted we get the more expensive one, because she says it is definitely yummier.. Boy, does she have expensive taste! $10 vs $26 for a box. Whew...
But after we got home, and tried the moon cake, she was right. The $10 just did not cut it (per hubs, and from what I can see)

Well, this weekend, we managed to get egg tarts and white lotus seed moon cake from Golden Gate Bakery. That should be very yummy. And I found out that they are famous for a coconut moon cake, that was sold out already on Saturday, and won't be available till the next week. definitely have to get my hands on some.
