Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial day everyone

To everyone who is not in the US, Memorial day is a day of remembrance of the troops who have and still are defending the United States of Americas. It is especially difficult for some folks since the war in Iraq is still going on, and it is almost everyday that I here news of death of soldiers and civilians.

We do not personally know anyone who has passed because of the war, but we do have a friend who did get injured whilst doing a tour of duty in Afghanistan. We are thankful that he is home safe now.

But to some others, Memorial day is the start of the summer season. School is out, and vacation time starts. Memorial day is usually spent BBQing in the backyard, or going to the beach.

To be frank, I do now understand most of the holidays being observed here. I guess CK and I should read up more about them, instead of just taking as an extra vacation day. The girls will be going to school soon, and they will be asking us about them.

So how did we spent it? I tried to be good, and explained to Kat a little about what today is all about. But she was of course not that too interested.

Instead, we had a nice breakfast at our usual breakfast joint. Yummilicious!
Followed by some shopping where I got a nice wallet. Yay! My old wallet lasted me 10 years, mind you..
Then it was off to a birthday party at a indoor jumpy place. And this time, I got to play too, since the last couple of birthdays there I was pregnant, and so did not get to play :-)

So a very fruitful day indeed..
Ah.. not looking forward to working.
