Back from the snow

Hi all,

Hope your CNY is still going great.
Was up in Reno area this last weekend, and had a lot of fun.
It would have been a lot nicer if not for the almost 12 hours journey it took us to get back home on Sunday!

We left on Sat morning, carpooling with some friends of ours.
The start wasn't great either as the car battery died! (we borrowed a big SUV from another friend)
So it was a late start, and by the time we were up to the sno-park area, it was pretty late.
Didn't help that my husband needed to get food before playing as he was extremely grouchy on an empty stomache :-)

But it was nice - fresh powder, so it wasn't at all slippery for pregnant ol'me.
As we were playing it was snowing on us.
The kids had loads of fun.

We stayed the night at Reno, and had a buffet dinner at the casino, which was so-so.
Not bad, but not great either.

Then the highlight of the night was my husband who went down to play a few hands, and actually won some money playing video poker! It was his first time playing those machines.
Woohoo! So the whole trip was paid for by the casino :-)

Sunday morning we woke up later than usual, and only left at 11am
Thought we could get pass Donner summit before the storm hit, but we were wrong..
Boy, we're glad we even made it pass on the interstate.
They actually had closed down some other roads, but we didn't get affected.
Would not want to be stuck on the freeways with no where to go.

So that was our eventful weekend.
