Playtime at Kat's best friend's house

Hi all..

It's hot, hot, hot here in SF. Whew! I am so sleepy now.

It's been a very eventful weekend so far. Yesterday we met up with Wan Yin who was transiting in SF on her way back to NY. It's so nice to see here again because the last time we met was in NY during our trip there last year. She got yummy mochis for us from Tokyo and another box of mochi type dessert from Kyoto. Yummilicious!

So since we were already at the airport, we went into SF to get our favourite egg tarts from Golden Gate bakery. Let me see how long I waited this time. Hmm.. probably about 20 mins. Not too bad this time. I have to remember that moon cake festival is coming and I need to go and get moon cakes from there too. So I bought half a dozen each of egg tarts, 'char siu sow' and chicken pie, and 2 egg sponge cakes.

After walking around Chinatown, where we bought a kung fu outfit for Kat (so cute!), we drove to Little Italy. Ended up at the park right in the middle of it. I think it's called Washington Square? But lots of people sunbathing, playing ball, etc with some art on display. There was a playground at one of the corners and so we ended up playing there. It was also so warm in the city. If SF is warm in summer, you know all the other areas around the bay is super hot.

Then on our way home, my forever hungry husband saw an Indian restaurant which was featured in one of the tv programs and insisted on getting some curry and naan bread for dinner. So we did :-) Our good friend came over to hang out together with her daughter, and then they slept over. Quincy came over too (the dog) and so the kids had a good time playing with him.

Anyway, today we went over to Kat's best friend from school's house to play. They had so much fun playing in the inflatable pool in the back yard. It was so cool, it had a tiny slide, and sprinkle too! We got to get one to put in our front yard. Plus there was a water play table - also so cool I want to get one :-) Then we had pizza and fruit dessert for lunch. Kat wanted to take a nap with her friend but we told her we got to go home. Gave a little fit, but got over it, and then conked out in the car immediately. It was so sweet seeing them together. They won't be seeing each other everyday now that Kat is going to a new preschool starting tomorrow. But we will probably do play dates at each other's houses.

Alrighty.. got to go downstaurs to check on my cooking. Yes, I am actually cooking because we need to eat more healthily and also save some money. Been reading the book 'The Millionaire next Door'. Interesting book.

So will upload some pics later. Either today or tomorrow. Watch out for those.

Love, The Chews...
